A Fit-Out Built Around the View
A residential apartment renovation on Auckland's waterfront, delivered in partnership with interior designer Lucy of Armstrong Interiors, in a light-filled third-floor home looking out over the harbour to Rangitoto.
The project
The brief centred on new cabinetry, wall finishes, and custom joinery across the entrance, hallway, bar, and media room, paired with quality wallpapers and new furniture through the living and media spaces. Oak panelling and high-end cabinetry run through the apartment, working with the natural light rather than against it.
A few details carry the project: a media room door that disappears into the wall when closed, a bar with hanging glass shelving set against a bronze mirror backdrop, and a porcelain inlay bench seat at the entrance.
The detail
The client lived in the apartment throughout the renovation, which shaped how the project was run. Keeping trades and client communication tight was central to holding the timeline, especially with third-floor access to manage for every delivery and every trade.
The building itself set real limits: concrete walls with no ceiling or floor cavities to run services or fixings through meant decisions had to be made site by site, worked through in person rather than assumed from the drawings. Regular on-site oversight through each stage kept the detailing to the standard the design called for.
